Recently, China Telecom Sichuan Company has built the country's first high-altitude distributed green computing power cluster in clean energy rich areas such as Ganzi Prefecture in Sichuan Province, effectively promoting the on-site consumption and transformation of local clean energy, and turning the western Sichuan Plateau into a "computing power plateau" in China.
This computing power cluster consists of multiple "distributed computing cabin" units distributed in different geographical locations, which can be connected through a network and work collaboratively to better meet the needs of various industries for localization and real-time computing power. On this basis, China Telecom relies on the "Xirang" integrated intelligent computing service platform to achieve nationwide unified management and scheduling of the cluster's computing power resources. Compared with traditional data centers, this distributed green computing power cluster reduces infrastructure construction costs by 50%, shortens the construction period from two years to three months, and provides low-cost and high-efficiency intelligent computing power for society, widely adapting to various intelligent computing scenarios and business needs.
Distributed power sources assist distributed computing power clusters. It is reported that the "distributed computing cabin" adopts the industry-leading distributed DPS intelligent computing solution, with a maximum power of 60kVA for a single cabinet. Mindsec can independently develop and adopt an integrated design, which can be directly deployed in server cabinets without additional land occupation. It has high power supply efficiency and flexible deployment, and can achieve cabinet level distributed deployment and rapid delivery according to business needs, perfectly meeting the actual needs of customers on site.
As early as early 2024, China Telecom Sichuan Company began to carry out pilot construction of distributed cabin computing in the western Sichuan region. In response to the unique geographical environment of the western Sichuan Plateau, distributed computing cabins are presented in the form of "containers", which can be flexibly deployed according to the distribution of hydropower stations, effectively reducing power transmission losses.
This modular design has the advantage of being 'easy to expand' and can be continuously upgraded and iterated according to local conditions, continuously improving infrastructure such as liquid cooled computing cabins and network resources. At the same time, the distributed computing cabin adopts a cooling method combining air cooling and water cooling, which can achieve the recycling of water resources. According to the relevant person in charge of China Telecom Sichuan Company, this innovative design can not only effectively utilize the previous abandoned water and electricity resources, maximize ecological benefits, but also promote the diversified development of local economy.
The establishment of this high-altitude distributed green computing power cluster not only creates a new model for the construction of computing infrastructure in high-altitude areas, but also provides an innovative example for the deep integration of clean energy and digital economy, which has important demonstration significance for promoting the development of digital economy in western regions.
